Your Journey Toward Growth and Clarity
KD Counselling offers individual psychotherapy to help adults and teens explore their inner world, overcome personal challenges, and live a life more aligned with their values.
At KD Counseling, individual therapy is a collaborative and personalized process. We work alongside you to explore the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that shape how you show up in the world and to develop the insight and skills to create meaningful change. Whether you are navigating anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, life transitions, or a deeper sense of disconnection, our approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and evidence-informed practice. Together, we build a space where you can show up honestly, be challenged thoughtfully, and grow sustainably.
In addition to virtual sessions, we offer Walk & Talk Therapy, beginning at Old Mill Station and following the scenic Humber River trails. This outdoor approach can provide a refreshing alternative to traditional therapy, allowing movement and nature to support reflection, emotional processing, and conversation.
We also offer psychological services and work in partnership with our trusted clinical partner to complete psychological assessments, allowing us to connect clients with comprehensive mental health care when appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Individual therapy is a private, one-on-one process between you and your therapist. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and take place weekly or bi-weekly. Together, we explore what’s bringing you in, identify patterns and goals, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. The first session is primarily a getting-to-know-you conversation. You won’t be expected to have everything figured out.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or simply curious about what therapy could offer, those are all good enough reasons to start. Therapy is not only for people in crisis. Many clients come to build self-awareness, navigate transitions, or invest in their long-term wellbeing.
Our work is integrative, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness, somatic, narrative and solution-focused approaches. The approach is always tailored to you, your goals, your history, and what resonates.
Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to the therapeutic relationship. What you share stays between us, with very limited legal exceptions, such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or a court order. These exceptions are explained clearly before we begin through our informed consent process.
That varies widely and is entirely your choice. Some clients benefit from a focused short-term engagement of 8–12 sessions. Others prefer longer-term work as they move through different life phases. We check in regularly on your goals and progress so that therapy continues to serve you well.
Yes. KD Counselling offers secure virtual sessions throughout Ontario. Virtual therapy is highly effective for many concerns and offers added convenience for those with busy schedules, mobility limitations, or limited access to in-person services.
Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, but many extended health benefits plans cover services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) (RP(Q)). We recommend checking your plan or contacting your provider. We also offer psychological services through supervision with our trusted clinical partner. We provide receipts for all sessions for reimbursement purposes.
We currently provide direct billing under the following providers: ProviderConnect (Empire Life, Greenshield, SSQ), Canadian Benefit Providers, Sun Life, and Blue Cross.
Yes. As a racialized, queer, neurodivergent person, I understand some of the challenges that can come with navigating spaces where you may not feel fully seen or understood.
While I welcome clients from all backgrounds, I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals exploring questions related to identity, belonging, authenticity, masking, code-switching, relationships, and self-acceptance.
