COMMON INQUIRIES ANSWERED
Frequently Asked Questions
Career coaches typically focus on strategy; resume writing, job searching, interview prep. Our career counselling integrates therapeutic practice, which means we explore the psychological barriers that may be holding you back: fear of failure, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, and anxiety. This allows us to address the emotional dimensions of career development.
Absolutely! That uncertainty is one of the most common reasons people come to career counselling. We use structured exploration, values clarification, and strengths-based assessments to help you gain clarity on what matters most to you and what direction aligns with your authentic self.
Yes. Career counselling is not only for people who are unemployed or undecided. If you’re feeling stuck, burned out, underutilized, or misaligned in your current role, that is a valuable and important place to begin. We help you assess your situation, explore your options, and build a plan that honours both your practical needs and your sense of purpose.
I do not provide resume writing or interview coaching services. However, I partner with a trusted career services agency that can support clients with resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation.
My role is to help with the emotional aspects of the job search and career development process, particularly through the lens of self-advocacy and presenting your authentic strengths. Our primary focus, however, is the deeper work of career direction, managing interview anxiety, decision-making, processing workplace experiences, developing self-advocacy skills and the mindset shifts needed to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Career counselling delivered by a Registered Psychotherapist may be covered under your extended health benefits as psychotherapy. We recommend checking your plan details or contacting your benefits provider, as coverage varies.
It varies depending on where you are in your journey. Some clients find 4–6 focused sessions sufficient for clarity and direction. Others prefer ongoing support through a longer transition. We’ll discuss your goals early on and adapt our approach accordingly.
